(terrain/field: Memorial Field, John Abbott College, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC)

La traduction est en cours. Désolé. The John Abbott College Islanders scored early and often en route to an impressive 58-14 victory over the visiting CEGEPde Beauce-Appalaches Condors.

After taking the opening kickoff and starting from their own 19-yd line, the Islanders only needed four plays to score the first points of the game, a TD on a 62-yd catch-and-run play by I#18, for a quick 7-0 lead (I#28 convert kick). After forcing the Condors to go three-and-out on the ensuing possession, the Islanders started their next offensive series from their own 18-yd line and this time they executed 12 plays but the end result was the same – another touchdown by I#18 to double their lead.

While the Abbott defense held their opponents off the scoreboard on their next four drives, and even scored two points when Beauce decided to concede a safety on one occasion, the offense didn't skip a beat and scored a touchdown every time it got the ball to build up a 44-0 lead mid way through the 2nd quarter. After an exchange of punts, the Islanders defense once again showed its dominance when it caused a turnover with a fumble recovery by I#50. The offense then used six play to go 40 yards into the Condors end zone for another TD, this time on a 24-yd catch by I#15.

The visitors finally responded with an 11-play, 79-yd drive to score their first points of the game on a 1-yd TD run by C#22 to make the score 51-7 at the half time break.

The scoring pace slowed down considerably in the 2nd half as both teams started playing their backups and the score remained unchanged until the 4th quarter when each team manage to score one TD to make the final score 58-14.

La traduction est en cours. Désolé. For the third time this season, the Stallions midget team lost a game because of a missed convert. On paper, they should have won this game easily, especially with their strong running game, but by turning the ball over four times and being called for 10 penalties for 134 yards, nine of them on defense, they certainly helped the visiting Gaulois de Gatineau Vikings win the game.
This shouldn't take anything away from the Gatineau team, whom the Stallions beat 30-12 just five weeks earlier, because they had a QB who can throw the ball, receivers who could catch it, they had a game plan and they stuck to it.

Perhaps the Stallions were simply too confident or they took the visitors too lightly because on three occasions they went for it on 4th down on their own side of the field and they didn't make it. The errors proved costly because after two of these turnovers, the Gatineau team scored points, once on a field goal and another time with a touchdown.

After the first turnover on downs on their first possession, Stallions defense forced the Gaulois to go three-and-out and their offense went back on the field. Six plays later they were at the Gatineau 3-yd line and S#2 then scored the first points of the game with a 3-yd carry to put the home team ahead 7-0 (S#41 convert kick). The defense then caused the Gaulois to turn the ball over on the ensuing possession but Stallions quickly returned the favor when they turned the ball over because of a fumble. The visitors then put together a 7-play, 53-yd drive that was helped by two major penalties called against the Stallions and finished with a 1-yd TD run by G#99 to even the score at 7-7 (G#37 convert kick).

Stallions followed that with another turnover on downs at their own 35-yd line on their next possessions and that proved costly as the Gaulois took advantage of the opportunity to increase their lead to 10-7 with a 12-yd FG by G#37.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter where both teams played a very conservative style of football, it was Stallions' turn to take advantage of a turnover when S#1 intercepted a pass at the Gatineau 32-yd line. Five plays later S#41 kicked a 22-yd FG to even the score once again, this time at 10-10. When Stallions scored a TD on their next drive to take a 16-10 lead with less than five minutes left to play it looked like they could cruise to a victory.

However, the Gatineau team responded immediately with another 7-play drive, this time for 65 yards that was again helped by two major penalties called against the Stallions, and finished with exactly the same type of play that the St-Laurent Spartans used in 2009 to beat that year's St-Lazare midget team – they handed the ball off to their running back who swept to the right, then planted his feet and threw a 26-yd strike to G#11 who was wide open in the end zone. A successful convert kick by G#37 put the visitors in front 17-16 with only 1:15 left on the clock.

Stallions made a valiant effort to try to score some points and they got as close as the Gatineau 30-yd line but with the game clock expiring they called for a run play instead of trying to punt the ball through the end zone for a rouge and the Gatineau defense was ready and tackled the ball carrier at the 22-yd line.

On offense, S#22 stood out with 94 yards on 13 carries while on defense the players who stood out were S#1 with an interception and S#81 with a sack. S#21 and S#43 led the team with the most tackles.
