The Jack Simpson Cup encore performance between the St-Lazare Stallions and the Chateauguay Raiders proved to be a lot more entertaining than the 7-2 game from a year earlier, but if there was one thing that did not change it was the Raiders' game strategy.
Last year, they generated 227 total yards of offense, 226 of which was on the ground. Their favorite play on first downs was to hand the ball off to their running back and run it right up the gut of the Stallions defense. That's how they got 96 of those 226 yards. In this year's final, the Raiders generated 231 total yards of offense, 221 of which was on the ground. Their favorite play on first downs was to hand the ball off to their running back and run it right up the gut of the Stallions defense. That's how they gained 98 of those 221 yards. It sounds like a broken record but it's not.

The game was played exactly on the 11th anniversary to the day of the one and only Jack Simpson Cup win by a Stallions midget team and it did not start well for St-Lazare. On only the second play from scrimmage, they fumbled the ball on their own 30-yd line and R#72 recovered it. The Raiders offense then went on the field and in two plays had a first down 11 yards from the end zone. However, after three more plays they were still at the same spot and they settled for an 18-yd field goal by R#41 to take an early 3-0 lead.

Stallions responded immediately, though, starting on their own 35-yd line and gaining a first down in six plays three yards from the Chateauguay end zone. Stallions QB S#2 then finished the drive with a 3-yd carry to score the game's first TD and give the Stallions a 6-3 lead (convert kick failed). After forcing the Raiders to go three-and-out on the ensuing drive, Stallions seemed ready to score more points on their next drive when they got a first down at the Raiders 22-yd line but on the next three plays they could only gain three more yards. They settled for a 26-yd field goal attempt by S#3 and the kick was good but Stallions were assessed a penalty that took their three points off the scoreboard and pushed them five yards back. Unfortunately, the second field goal attempt was wide right and they only got one point for their efforts.

The turnover quickly proved costly because on the first play of the ensuing Raiders drive, R#21 broke right through the middle of the Stallions defense and ran 54 yards before being tackled by S#34. That only prevented the inevitable, though, because three plays later Raiders QB got into the end zone on a 2-yd carry to put his team back in front 9-7 (convert kick failed). After the two teams exchanged punts, Stallions offense went back on the field at its own 45-yd line with 1:00 left to play in the first half. On their first play, however, disaster struck again as they fumbled the ball and R#44 recovered it. The Raiders then needed only three plays to score another TD, this time on a 20-yd run by R#41 to increase their lead to 16-7 at the half time break (R#91 convert kick).

Chateauguay went on offense at the start of the 2nd half and they simply continued where they left off at the end of the 1st half. Their first drive was a seven-play, 50-yd effort that finished with an 18-yd TD run by R#21 that increased Chateauguay's lead to 23-7 (R#91 convert kick). After another exchange of punts, Stallions faced a 4th down and five yards to go situation at their own 49-yd line. They lined up for a punt but Stallions' punter handed the ball off to S#22 instead of kicking. R#50 saw the fake all the way and tackled the Stallions ball carrier 14 yards behind the line of scrimmage, forcing a turnover on downs. It again proved costly for the Stallions because only two plays later R#87 scored another TD, this time on a 27-yd run to put Chateauguay in front 30-7 (R#91 convert kick) early in the 4th quarter.

To their credit, Stallions fought back and on the ensuing possession put together an 11-play, 75-yd drive that finished with a 1-yd TD catch by S#3 and which made it a two-possession game when S#2 carried the ball into the end zone on a 2-pt convert and had the Stallions then trailing the Raiders 30-15.

The scoring drive consumed more than seven minutes of playing time and the Raiders got the ball back with a little more than three minutes left to play in the game. Stallions defense limited them to only four yards on their next three plays and Raiders went for it on 4th down, but their pass play only pushed them back eight more yards and they turned the ball over on downs. Stallions offense then went back on the field with only 1:30 left on the game clock at the Raiders' 52-yd line. They lost two yards with a run on the 1st down and then threw two incomplete passes. On 4th down, they handed the ball off the S#22 but he was limited to a gain of only eight yards and Stallions again turned the ball over on downs. The Raiders were then able to run out the clock to preserve their second Jack Simpson Cup victory in a row.

After the game, league officials awarded team MVP awards to R#21 Dwante Morgan from the Raiders and S#22 Zachary Stehr from the Stallions. The MVP lineman awards were given to R#55 Alexandre Duggan from Chateauguay and S#99 Jarred Heward from St-Lazare.

The St-Lazare Stallions and the St-Laurent Spartans were meeting for the second time this season but it was clear from the beginning that it was not the same teams that played against each other on August 19. In that game, the Spartans generated a total of 417 yards of offense, 210 through the air and 207 on the ground, which they used to beat the Stallions by a score of 40-6. In the President's Cup final, the Spartans only generated 171 yards of total offense and only 21 of those yards came on passing plays. Stallions, on the other hand, could run and pass with equal proficiency and they used it to dominate the game and earn a 30-6 win. It was also somewhat strange that for a game that is called football, the ball never touched a single player's foot other than on kickoffs,

Just like their midget brethren the night before, things didn't go well for the Stallions at the start of the game because they fumbled the ball on the opening kickoff and Sp#40 recovered it. However, the Spartans turned the ball over right back to the Stallions on downs and the St-Lazare offense then went into action starting from its own 34-yd line. Unfortunately, two plays later they fumbled again and St-Laurent recovered it. This time, it looked like the Spartans might take advantage of the turnover as they moved 41 yards in five plays and got a first down just nine yards outside the St-Lazare end zone. Three plays later they were only five yards closer and they decided to go for it on 4th down. They tried a pass to Sp#32 in the end zone but St#56 knocked it down to preserve the scoreless tie. On the first play of the ensuing drive by the Stallions St#2 threw a short pass to St#25 who got behind the Spartans defense and started running towards the end zone. It looked like he might score a TD but Sp#44 caught up with him and made a tackle 29 yards outside the end zone. Four plays later, however, St#20 finished the job with a 10-yd TD catch, which gave the Stallions a 6-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter that they would never relinquish (2-pt convert pass attempt failed).

After an exchange of turnovers – the game was a turnover feast, six of them committed by the Stallions and 12 by the Spartans – Stallions went back on offense starting at the St-Laurent 34-yd line and six plays later St#26 scored a TD on a 10-yd carry to increased St-Lazare's lead to 12-0 (2-pt convert attempt failed). Spartans then had the ball for only three plays before St#56 took it away from them with an interception. Seven plays after that, St#80 caught a 25-yd TD pass to make the score 18-0 for St-Lazare at the half time break.

After the two teams traded two more turnovers each at the start of the second half it looked like St-Laurent's fortunes were changing when Sp#24 intercepted a pass from St#2 at his own 15-yd line and ran 71 yards the other way before being brought down by St#26. The Spartans offense then went on the field and needed just two plays before Sp#9 scored a TD from five yards out on a QB-keeper to narrow the gap to 18-6 at the end of the 3rd quarter (2-pt convert failed).

However, Stallions responded in kind, also needing just two plays to score a TD, this time on an 80-yd catch-and-run play by St#25 to restore their 18-point lead (2-pt convert attempt failed again). On the ensuing kickoff, Stallions kicked short and St#25 recovered the ball putting the St-Lazare offensive unit right back on the field at the St-Laurent 37-yd line. They then used six plays to score the last TD of the game on a 2-yd carry by St#46 to make the final score 30-6.

St#25 stood out on offense for the Stallions with 177 yards on four catches and one TD. On defense, St#56 and St#80 stood out with two and one interceptions respectively. St#26 and St#66 combined on one sack while St#46 led the defense with nine tackles.

After the game, league officials awarded team MVP awards to Sp#9 Philippe Croisetiere from the Spartans and St#46 Nikolas St-Louis-Taylor from the Stallions. The MVP lineman awards were given to Sp#50 Antoine Moustache from St-Laurent and St#60 Jack Taylor from St-Lazare.
