La traduction est en cours. Désolé. The 2017 edition of the North Shore Lions are not the same caliber of football team that we've come to expect. After all, they have already lost two games, one to Lasalle and one to Sun Youth, but the 45 players that they have on their roster had no trouble at all winning over the 21 players that were dressed for the Stallions.

The Lions offense was on the field eight times during the game and they scored a touchdown on six of those occasions. After Stallions went three-and-out on the game's opening drive, the Lions responded with a touchdown on their first possession to take an early 7-0 lead. On the ensuing drive, though, Stallions put together a very promising 15-play drive where they converted on a 4th and 11 yards to go with a 27-yd catch by S#25 and got a first down at the Lions 11-yd line. However, they got pushed back nine yards on the next three plays and on the 4th down play the pass attempt to S#25 at the goal line was incomplete and they turned the ball over on downs.

After the Lions responded with a 12-play, 50-yd drive but only managed to add one point to their lead when S#46 was tackled in the end zone on a punt return, it looked like Stallions might keep the game close. Unfortunately, the Lions ended up getting the ball back with less than four minutes left to play in the first half but they were still able to score three more TDs to make the score 29-0 at the half time break.

With the clock running for most of the second half, neither team had many scoring opportunities but the Lions did increase their lead to 36-0 in the 3rd quarter before Stallions finally managed to score some points thanks to a 9-play, 64-yd drive that finished with a TD on a 32-yd catch-and-run by S#25. The joy did not last long, however, because L#57 got those points right back for the Lions when he returned the ensuing kickoff 65 yards to make the final score 42-6.

S#10, S#25 and S#44 stood out on defense for the Stallions by making the most tackles.

Les Spartans on tenté très fort à perdre le match, mais les Stallions les avaient empeché de le faire.
La traduction est en cours. Désolé.
The Spartans tried very hard to lose the game but Stallions just would not let them do it.Here is how it all went down.

Even though they briefly fell behind, the Spartans pretty much controlled the game in the first half and seemed on the way to a well deserved victory. However, they ran out of gas in the second half and started to make mistakes, but Stallions could not take advantage of them and they held on for a narrow 21-18 win that was determined by TD converts. In a complete departure from the past, the Spartans, who rarely have a kicker worthy of the position, managed to convert all of their three touchdowns with ease while Stallions could not get any extra points from the three TDs that they scored.

Stallions went three-and-out on the opening drive of the game and gave the ball to the Spartans near mid field. The visitors then needed just two runs and two passes to go 63 yards and take a 7-0 lead on a 39-yd catch-and-run play by Sp#14 (Sp#35 convert kick). After another three-and-out, Stallions got the ball again near the end of the first quarter at their own 7-yd line and again they only executed three plays but the last one was a TD on an 86-yd catch-and-run play by St#19 to make the score 7-6 (convert kick blocked).

The offense then went right back on the field from the Spartans 50-yd line after St#1 intercepted a pass and they needed just five plays to score another TD on a 12-yd run by St#3 to go in front 12-7 (convert kick failed). The Spartans replied immediately, however, with a TD to retake the lead by a 14-12 margin.

When Stallions turned the ball over on the ensuing possession it proved to be costly because the Spartans offense took advantage of it to score the points that would prove to be the winning margin with another TD and increase their lead to 21-12 at the half time break.

With only 21 players on the Stallions' roster and 23 players on St-Laurent' combined with the hot and humid playing conditions it was expected that the pace of play would slow down in the second half, but it was much more evident with the Spartans than with the Stallions. St-Laurent players started to drop easy passes and turn the ball over.

At the start of the 4th quarter St#4 recovered a Spartans fumble at the Stallions 44-yd line. The offense then needed only six plays to get into the end zone on a 2-yd run by St#22 to make the score 21-18 with 8:14 left to play in the game (2-pt convert attempt failed). It looked like it was just a matter of time before the home team would score the winning TD. However, after forcing the Spartans to go three-and-out, the offense went back on the field and they got as close as the 18-yd line but eventually they turned the ball over on downs with only 1:26 left to play in the game.

Common wisdom would have dictated that the Spartans would keep the ball on the ground and try to run out the clock. They did that on their first two plays but on a third down and seven yards to go, something possessed them to throw a lazy pass that was easily intercepted by St#13 at the Spartans 49-yd line with 46 seconds still on the clock. There was plenty of time to run at least six or seven plays. Unfortunately, Stallions ended up throwing four incomplete passes in a row, using up less than half of the time they had available, and they turned the ball over back to the Spartans, who finished the game with three kneel downs.

St#1 and St#13 stood out on defense with one INT each while St#4 and St#19 each recovered a fumble. St#19 and St#22 led with the most tackles.
