La traduction est en cours. Désolé. One of the fundamental laws of physics, confirmed by Albert Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, is that in football, the team that commits fewer turnovers wins the game most of the times. This match between the Stallions and the Raiders was an empirical confirmation of that law. While Chateauguay turned the ball over only two times, Stallions did it six times and they ended up on the short end of the 40-20 decision.

Stallions went on offense first but after executing six plays they fumbled the ball and R#20 recovered it, giving the home team a first down at the Stallions 50-yd line. The Raiders then needed just five plays to score a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. Fittingly, it was scored by the same R#20 who caused the turnover that put the Chateauguay offense on the field. Since both teams only had about two dozens players dressed for the game, most of them got to play on both sides of the ball.

Stallions, however, responded immediately with a 6-play, 58-yd drive of their own to score a TD on a 2-yd run by their QB to make it 7-6 (convert kick no good). The Raiders were not to be outdone and they answered with a 12-play, 77-yd drive finished with their QB sneaking into the end zone to make the score 14-6.

This entertaining tit-for-tat game continued with the Stallions scoring a TD on the ensuing possession and finishing it with a 2-pt convert catch to make the score even at 14-14. Predictably, the Raiders were not to be outdone and they responded with a TD on their next possession to take a 22-14 lead at the half time break.

Neither team could mount any scoring threat in the 3rd quarter. With 9:37 left to play in the game, the Raiders took advantage of a Stallions turnover and executed another 77-yd drive that finished with R#20 scoring his third TD of the game, this time on a 26-yd slalom through the Stallions defense, to increase their lead to 28-14. After recovering the ball on the ensuing kickoff, the Raiders needed just two plays to score another TD, this time on a 25-yd run by R#7 to make the score 34-14.

Stallions went back on offense with 1:57 left on the clock and they gave their fans a faint hope of pulling out a miracle when they scored a touchdown on a 6-yd catch by S#25 to make the score 34-20 and then recovered the ball on the kickoff, but they quickly turned it over on an interception by R#7 who then ran it back 70 yards for a pick-six TD to make the final score 40-20.

S#25, S#44 and S#80 made the biggest contributions to the offensive effort while on defense, the players who stood out were S#25 with a fumble recovery and S#29 with an interception. S#46 and S#50 led with the most tackles.

La traduction est en cours. Désolé. Football karma is real. In the game four weeks ago between the Stallions bantam team and the St-Laurent Spartans, there was a play in the first quarter where the Spartans QB threw a long pass to a receiver wearing the #1 jersey that looked like it was going to be intercepted. Instead, the ball bounced off the Stallions defender and was caught by the St-Laurent receiver who then scored a TD.

In this game between the Stallions midget team and the Chateauguay Raiders it was the Stallions who were throwing a long pass to a receiver wearing the #1 jersey and it looked certain that it was going to be intercepted by a Raiders defender. Instead, the ball passed right through his hands and was caught by the Stallions receiver, who simply strolled into the end zone to score a TD. Unfortunately, it was too little too late as it came with only 35 seconds left to play on the clock with the Stallions trailing the Raiders 13-0 at that time. Stallions tried an onside kick but a Stallions player touched the ball before it traveled the required minimum 10 yards and the Raiders got the ball and were able to run out the clock to win the rematch of last year's Jack Simpson Cup championship game.

Other than the lucky break on their last drive, Stallions offense was able to generate a credible scoring threat on only one of their previous seven possessions. On their second series of the game, which came right after the defense forced a Raiders turnover on downs just 11 yards from the end zone, they moved 85 yards in 12 plays all the way to the Raiders 16-yd line but they came away empty-handed when the QB tried to throw the ball away under pressure from the Chateauguay defense and had the pass intercepted by R#55 who then ran 75 yards the other way to put the home team ahead 7-0 (R#91 convert kick). The score would hold up until the half time break.

The Raiders went on offense first from their own 41-yd line at the start of the second half and in just three plays they got a first down only 11 yards outside the end zone, but it then took them five more plays before R#15 finally scored a TD on a 1-yd plunge to increase the home team's lead to 13-0.

After that, it seemed that both teams ran out of steam and neither could mount any offensive threat until the Stallions' last possession starting at their own 39-yd line with 4:09 left to play. They advanced quickly near mid field, but after a penalty and a sack they were faced with a 4th down and 14 yards to go at their own 47-yd line. That's when the football gods smiled upon them and helped them score a touchdown to make the game interesting, not to mention bringing back memories of some of the exciting comeback wins from last year.

S#1 stood out on offense as well as defense. In the first category it was for his five catches for 129 yards and the memorable TD whereas on defense it was for making an interception. S#99 had a sack while S#22 led with the most tackles.
