La traduction est en cours. Désolé. | After punting on the first drive of the game, the John Abbott College Islanders offense scored a touchdown every time it had the ball in the first half, building up a 37-0 lead at the half time break and then cruising to an easy 51-3 win over the visiting Beauce-Appalaches Condors.
With only one game gone in the season it may be too early to judge, but the Islanders look like a better team than they were in 2015, with a better running and passing game, not to mention eight former Stallions on their roster, while the Condors appear to be a weaker team compared to a year ago. The Islanders took an early 2-0 when the visitors conceded a safety on their first offensive series but they quickly added to their lead on the ensuing drive, going 75 yards in five plays, finishing with a 6-yd TD run by Kwame Osei that made the score 9-0 (Jacob Tanguay-Austin convert kick). The Islanders defense then forced the Condors to go three-and-out and punt but Qwintyn Rice fumbled the ball on the return and Adrien Wilmot from Beauce recovered it at the Islanders 24-yd line. The Condors got as close as the 8-yd line but they went for it on 4th and 1 and they were denied by the Islanders defense. That seemed to be the turning point of the game because the home team then responded with a 14-play, 102-yd scoring drive that consumed more than eight minutes off the clock and finished with a 29-yd TD catch by a former Stallion Jérémy Comeau and which increased their lead to 16-0 (convert kick by Tanguay-Austin). Beauce punted on their next three drives, during which their total net offensive production was -3 yards, while the Islanders scored a TD each time they went on offense and the score at the half time break was 37-0. In the second half, the Islanders were not as efficient and they only scored points on two of their four drives: 3 on a 37-yd field goal by Tanguay-Austin and 6 more on a 1-yd run by another former Stallion Tabari Yearwood. The Condors scored their only points on the last play of the game when Nathan Bolduc kicked a 20-yd field goal as time expired. |
